Celebrating World Veterinary Day
Today, April 26th, we celebrate World Veterinary Day — an annual opportunity to honor the vital contributions of ruminant veterinarians and their collaborators around the world.
This year’s theme, “Animal Health Takes a Team,” recognizes that veterinary care is a shared mission. From veterinary nurses and technicians to researchers and allied health professionals, safeguarding the health and welfare of ruminant animals is a truly collective effort that also impacts human well-being.
At Ceva Ruminants, we proudly stand alongside all members of the veterinary community, offering innovative, targeted solutions to support those on the frontlines of animal health.
Working together for animal health
Veterinarians are the cornerstone of care for cattle, sheep and goats. Their knowledge and dedication are essential for preventing disease, managing health threats and improving reproductive performance.
Voices from the field
As part of our recognition to all the animal health teams worldwide, we asked veterinarians across different countries and contexts how they contribute to animal health, welfare, and public safety through their work.
We thank each and every one of them for their valuable participation.
Ertuğrul Kanyılmaz – Turkey
“As a veterinarian, I uphold the principle of sustainability by protecting animal health and preventing diseases, indirectly contributing to human health. By improving animal welfare, I support efficient production and help prevent zoonotic diseases, ensuring public safety. Additionally, I guarantee food safety by promoting healthy livestock production, ensuring that safe and high-quality products reach consumers.”
Elizabeth Homerosky, DVM and Co-Owner at Veterinary Agri-Health Services (VAHS) – Canada
“We work collaboratively with our beef cattle clients to provide leading edge comprehensive herd health programs. It has always been our philosophy that if our clients were successful, we would be successful. We implement herd health programs to feedlot and cow/calf clients and ensure animal health and welfare is at the forefront of each decision made on these operations.”
Dani Ponté, veterinarian and Partner Lleidavet – Spain
“As a dairy cattle veterinarian, I always work following our veterinarian motto: Hygia pecoris, salus populi.”
Dr. Christophe Rousseau, Vet practitioner in Segré en Anjou Bleu – France
“Independent veterinarian in bovine production for 35 years, I wake up every morning with the same desire to practice my profession: Diagnose, treat, and relieve as best as possible, develop services (nutrition, reproduction, surgeries…), continue technical training, pass on knowledge to colleagues and farmers, lead teams both within the clinic and the Dairy Cow SNGTV commission, always keeping public health in mind (use of antibiotics, zoonoses…).”
Solutions rooted in collaboration
We understand the challenges of modern cattle, sheep, and goat farming. That’s why we co-create solutions with veterinarians, technicians, and producers—addressing needs at every stage of an animal’s life.
By
supporting professionals across the care chain with tools, training, and science-backed innovation, we aim to improve animal welfare, enhance productivity, and strengthen long-term sustainability in ruminant production.
Their dedication of these teams plays a key role not just in the success of farms, but also in global food safety, public health, and environmental stewardship.
Together, WE SEE a brighter and healthier future.
